Her painting, “Conversations with Trees” was a finalist, and was awarded the People’s Choice Award, in the Sovereign Asian Art Prize in 2012. Her digital art is influenced by abstract expressionism and reinterprets traditional forms and mythologies using new media, performance art and NFT video art.
The Singapore-based physicist and artist shares his oriental and abstract generative NFT art under the moniker Random Combo, with a number of sought-after collections minted on NFT marketplaces powered by the Tezos network. Developed using code, the imagery of Random Combo’s art often includes landscapes that evoke a sense of beauty and zen, such as his ‘Mei’ collection.
CS LIM’s background includes working as an engineer and developer on AI and blockchain projects. The South Korean artist takes an experimental approach to applying AI to create generative NFT art that depicts landscapes that blend traditional eastern genres with western expressionism. He’s interested in how AI models can produce infinite worlds and transitions as a way to interpret quantum mechanics theories that challenge our ideas about the nature of reality.
Nicolas is a French-Canadian artist whose focus is on using early computer imaging processes to create digital art. He enjoys working within the limitations of simple computer graphics to explore the contemplative and fantastical nature of screen-based space through pixelated forms, figures, geometric designs (moiré patterns), and architectural studies. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, House of Electronic Art Basil, and New York Fashion Week.
Lionel uses code, and particularly JavaScript, to generate unique artworks that blend randomness, abstract expressionism and geometric patterns. Known as makio135 in the cryptoart world, this French creative coder is always looking to push the artistic limits of generative art to discover new techniques. This explorative outlook is also represented in the themes of his work—his ‘Hōrō’ collection inspires a sense of discovery through abstract scenes that mix “the purity of architectural lines with the unpredictable movements of passers-by.”
Creating interactive digital art NFTs is something Yazid is known for—generating a large number of permutations of the same artwork using the same codebase. Aesthetically, his generative art incorporates early graphic design, abstract and minimalist styles including occasional pop art influences. Yazid is also a successful IT industry professional working in Brunei. He minted his first NFT in 2021, has released multiple collections and was a featured artist and speaker at Crypto Art Week Asia.
Munira is a Malaysian-based poet, songwriter and artist, who creates digital art under the aliases Moon and Mumu the stan. She worked in the creative industry before pursuing art full-time and makes pixel art and bold digital illustrations that touch on pop culture as well as themes of mental health, feminism and religion. She began by sharing fandom art, and received support online via her idol Mike Shinoda from the band Linkin Park—who was an early collector of her NFTs. She’s also an advocate of clean NFTs.
A painter and animator, Charles is one of the Philippines most popular NFT creators. His work has been exhibited widely, both locally and abroad. His signature style features cartoonish and grotesque characters, often with large or drooping eyes, and typically a bright color palette. He experimented with animation for many years to add a new layer of meaning to his paintings before discovering NFT minting on the Tezos blockchain, where he “finally found a home for these GIFs.” Charles mints animated GIFs created using hand-painted frames, which feature narratives of transformation and journeys that speak of internal struggles and triumphs of existence.
Iskra creates art using generative technology, neural networks and computer learning as well as plastics, canvas and clay. Her use of multiple techniques that mix digital and physical forms reflects her interest in exploring both limits and traditional roots. Her generative art depicts abstract and figurative images and asks the question: ‘Can machines make us more human?’ Iskra is a Bulgarian generative artist currently based in Madrid, whose background includes a career in data visualization and information design.
A French creator who has been passionate about programming since he was a teen, Michaël has practiced painting, street art and drawing throughout his art career before becoming a leading figure in the experimental NFT art style of plotter art. Michaël’s code-based images exist as NFTs and can also be transferred to paper via a computer-directed pen plotter—giving the quality of being handmade. He describes himself as ‘Bewitched by density, plant and trees’ and often creates images of stone monoliths and other structures in natural, overgrown scenes.
By exploring the space between the hand-drawn and the computer-drawn, Sarah is a US-based generative artist who aims to blur the boundaries and reflect a collaboration between humans and computers. She makes generative art using code and algorithms to introduce random parameters, stating that “All my work is the result of highly-ordered chaos.” Her digital art takes inspiration from nature, often with a painterly style, and more abstract pieces that feature textures, lines and repeating patterns. She’s also released generative poetry NFTs based on algorithmic asemic writing.
Aleksandra is a Serbian artist, programmer, web designer and professor of new media at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. She creates interactive art, generative art and art games that explore nonlinear narratives and the use of computer games logic and rules. While simplified shapes and lines feature in her work, the imagery hints at real-world concepts—she describes her pieces as ‘borderline figurative’.
One of China’s leading NFT artists and a blockchain influencer across Asia, Ting combines poetry, performance, AI and cryptoart to create conceptual artwork that reimagines traditional Chinese culture. She’s participated in, and curated, multiple NFT art exhibitions, worked with multiple global brands on NFT projects, been named by Forbes in its ‘30 under 30’ list, and made the 2021 Tatler Asia list of 300 rising leaders shaping Asia’s future.
Se Jin, who’s known as the artist 08AM, creates paintings and digital art including 3D animations of pixel art and wearable NFTs that are inspired by popular culture including street art. His artwork has been exhibited widely across South Korea—where he’s based—and internationally. 08AM has also collaborated with brands including Samsung Electronics, File and Pringles.
Chinese algorithmic artist Yi Wen is a programmer who has worked as an R&D engineer in the film industry and on virtual and augmented reality projects. Yi Wen’s interest shifted to exploring the relationship between technology and art, and their works—created under the name Reva—have been displayed at multiple exhibitions. A full-time crypto artist since 2020, Reva creates generative, GLSL and fractal art that explores the collision between machine and nature.
Matt is a Canadian-born artist based in London who writes code and algorithms to produce images, 3D models and instructions for plotter art.
