Asia’s rapidly growing Tezos ecosystem is garnering more and more attention since its launch several years ago. Now, with the founding of a Singapore-based developer hub intended to nurture and educate talented blockchain developers in everything Tezos has to offer, this will only gather in pace.
According to Saayan Choudhury, Senior Director, Solutions Delivery at TZ APAC, the new hub will take a three-pronged approach to reach out to developers.
This approach sees a dedicated developer relationship manager to handle and channel queries from developers to key stakeholders throughout the Tezos ecosystem globally.
It will also foster engagement with developers through online community channels and face-to-face networking events, helping to upskill developers in the intricacies and benefits of the Tezos blockchain.
The hub will also provide ramp-up portals where devs can self-learn at their own pace, says Choudhury.
“Developers can expect to see proof-of-concept applications and example solutions demonstrating how real-life problems are solved,” Choudhury said, “as well as advanced content such as Oracle integration and complex protocol smart contracts.”
The developer hub’s curriculum targets all levels of developers, from beginner to advanced, and will focus on rapid learning by example. This will move beyond simple programming and syntax structure and will provide content for everyone, from an undergrad student new to blockchain right through to a seasoned blockchain developer.
In terms of day-to-day activities and engagement, Choudhury says both community channels and in-person events will be used, and devs can reach out and get their questions answered within a relatively short time frame.
David Tng, TZ APAC’s Head of Growth, says the developer hub initiative came about because TZ APAC realized most of the articles written about Tezos are news-driven rather than organic content.
“While time-sensitive news is always good, we want to increase the focus on growing the community sustainably in the long run.”
One of the key features of the hub, said Tng, is language support and translation which ensures the content is delivered to the local community without them needing to understand English.
“Many artists and developers in developing countries will not understand English or have the level of proficiency to consume blockchain content written in English.”
Another common issue, Tng said, is the fact that many creators want to mint NFTs but don’t know how. Creators also want to know how to market themselves, and what an appropriate edition size and pricing strategy for their NFTs should be. “This is knowledge which can only be answered by other artists through experience”, said Tng.
The hub is also intended to empower and feature the Asian perspective on the Tezos blockchain and present more regionally relevant use cases to developers.
“Developers building products for these regions have a very different perspective because of their environment,” he says. For example, credit card payments may not be the norm, and these perspectives are misunderstood in the western world”, said Tng.
“We want to dive deeper into these stories, struggles, and nuances unique to Asia and champion Asian art and developers in a blockchain space still mainly catering to the west.
